Face of the day- drugstore & highend

Hello, today I wanted to share my fast makeup look with you. I had an hour to get ready before my lunch plans and I thought this would be a great post. I know a lot of you go to school or work and its nice to always have a quick look that you can throw together. Keep in mind that I don't mean this look will take a whole hour. I had to get my two year old ready as well. Anyways, keep reading to see how you can achieve this look. Thanks!

For this look a have a mixture of drugstore and department makeup. You can use whatever products you like. Some of the makeup doesn't have to be the same. You can use whatever products suite you best. I have a picture of everything I used below

                                           Primer
First, I applied e.l.f cosmetics Mineral Face Primer all over my face. This primer fills in fine lines and creates a flawless finish. It helps my foundation go on smoother and last all day. You can buy it for $6.00 on e.l.f's website.
                                   Eye Primer
Next, I primed my eyes with Lorac Comsetics Behind The Scenes eye primer. I love this primer! It keeps my eye makeup on all day without creasing, smudging or fading.

When I applied the primer, I used my fingers and patted it in all over my eyelid. If you want to try this primer you can buy it for $21.00 on Lorac's website.

                        Correcting Concealer
I can't say too much about this HD Lifting concealer in green from e.l.f cosmetics. It's new to me but so far I think it's ok. I like using it on my cystic acne for camouflage. As of today, I know it doesn't crease, cause breakouts or look cake-y. Which are all the important qualities for face products. You can buy this concealer for $3.00 on e.l.f's website.

I used a concealer brush to blend the concealer in. This technique seems to work very well. I think I might try a different brand and compare the concealing qualities. Maybe that will be a future post.

                     Foundation & Concealer
For my foundation and concealer I used Stila Stay All Day. This week I have been testing out this foundation and I plan on posting my review on it Saturday(4-12-14). You can buy it for $44.00 on Stila's website.

                         Undereye Concealer
For my Undereye concealer I used Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind concealer in brightening. This concealer is great for brightening up my dark circles. It's one of my holy-grail products and I can't live without it.

If you want to know a useful tip about this concealer click here. You can buy the product for $7.94 on walmart.com.

To apply, I made an upside down triangle under my eye and blended it in with my beauty blender.
                                        Powder
I used maybelline Dream Matte powder for setting all of my makeup. You can use whatever you like though, because this product was discontinued.

For full coverage I used the patting method with a large kabuki brush. I do this to avoid rubbing my concealer off of my blemishes. It works like a charm everytime.

                                           Bronzer
Ugh.. Another discontinued product. For my bronzeing my face I used Revlon Photoready bronzer.

With a large stippling brush I applied the bronzer under my cheek bones, forehead and jawline. I like using a stippling brush because it's easy to look muddy with a full coverage foundation on.

                                            Blush
For my blush I used Maybelline Dream Bouncy blush in Rose Petal and Pink Frosting. I love the texture of this blush. It's easy to apply and it's gorgeous on skin.

I applied them using my e.l.f small stippling brush. I used Pink Frosting on my cheek bones and Rose Petal on the apples of my cheeks. I love the look I get when I use a dark and light blush together. It always enhances my features.

If you want to buy this blush go on walmart's website and purchase it for $6.44.

                                        Highlight
The highlight I used today is pixi lumi lux radiance powder. This was a limited edition piece but you can find it on amazon.com for a good price.

I applied the highlight on the bridge of my nose, cheeks, under the arch of my eyebrow, the center of my forehead, my Cupid's bow and my chin.

I love this highlight because it has a luminous look instead of chunky glitter. Which is great for acne-prone skin.

                                        Eyebrows
For shaping my eyebrows I used e.l.f cosmetics eyebrow kit. You can buy this on e.l.f's website for $3.00. It comes in three different shades for all skin colors.

With this kit you get a dark wax, powder and a small brush. I mainly just use the wax for my eyebrows. I like to look more natural and it's easy to achieve that look with the wax. I also use my own angled brush instead of the brush e.l.f provide. I just threw that out because it wasn't worth keeping.

                                      Eyeshadow
For my eyeshadow is used the lovely Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. You can buy this palette for $52.00 on Urban Decays website or where Urban Decay is sold near you.

All of the eyeshadows in this palette are buttery smooth. The pigmentation is out of this world and lasts all day. What more could a girl ask for? Oh, I know! Beautiful packaging! Which the packaging totally is. I recommend this palette to everyone!

Since I was in a rush a did a really simple look using three eyeshadows from the palette. With a crease brush I lightly put Limit in my crease and blended it out. Then I used Burnout all over my lid. For my highlighting shade I used Strange. I used two of the same shades for my lower lash line. I applied Limit on the outer corner and Burnout on the inner corner.

That's it! It's such a fast look to achieve. Really you can use any shadows that are similar to these shades. Just find a dusty-rose matte for your crease, a light satin peachy-pink for the lid and a neutral pale-pink matte shadow for your highlight.

                                          Eyeliner
I used Essence Gel Eyeliner for lining my eyes. You can buy it from Ulta for $3.99. This eyeliner doesn't budge at all! I recommend it to everyone who is searching for a new gel liner. It's status is definitely holy-grail.

For my look today, I created a winged out liner using an angled brush. I didn't apply any gel eyeliner on my lower lash line.

If you need a tutorial on winged eyeliner just ask. You can either comment or send me an email

                                         Eyeliner
To brighten up my eyes, I used Rimmels Scandaleyes pencil in nude on my waterline. Yet again, another holy-grail product. Everyone needs this in their life. It only cost $3.97 at walmart.

                                        Mascara
To vamp up my lashes I used Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black mascara. You can buy this mascara for $5.84 at most drugstores.

I love this mascara! It gives me great volume and extra length. Just be careful because this mascara can get very thick on your lashes. I always do two light coats on my top lashes and it turns out perfect everytime. Be sure to remember your bottom lashes too! It makes a world of difference when your bottom lashes have mascara on.

                                             Lipstick
For my lips I used Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Nude Creme. You can buy this on their website for $5.49.

These lipsticks are so creamy and pigmented. They last for a couple hours and don't bleed outside the lip line. What do they smell like? Amazing! These lipsticks are the rock stars of the drugstore. Everything is perfect about them.

I can't tell you everything about them in this post. If you want a full review of these lipsticks, just ask. 😉

                                             Lipgloss
To top off my lips I used NYX Butter Gloss in Vanilla Cream Pie. You can buy these glosses for $5.00 on NYX's website.

Oh, the makeup gods were listening when we asked for the perfect lipgloss. It's cheap, creamy, smooth, buttery, moisturizing, opaque, non-sticky and tasty. It's everything you want in a lipgloss. I use them all the time. They look great on top of lipstick and alone. I just can't get enought of these glosses! Thank you, NYX!

I hope you enjoyed reading my post. If you have any questions, just ask. I will also do any requested makeup looks.  Thank you for reading, TaylorPie.

Clean & Clear Advantage acne control moisturizer review with photos

For many years I have struggled with acne. It's always a battle trying to find skincare products that actually work. I haven't found anything that completely demolishes my acne but I have found products that help a lot. Today I am posting about a great moisturizer for acne-prone skin.

Clean & Clear has a moisturizer that's specifically for acne-prone skin. It has salicylic acid medication to unclog pores and treat current breakouts. It's a lightweight formula and it's very comfortable to wear. Of course it's oil-free! You can find it at the drugstore for $6-$7.

What Clean & Clear has to say...

Say goodbye to acne with the Clean & Clear Advantage oil-free acne moisturizer. This non-greasy lotion effectively moisturizes acne-prone skin, leaving it soft and supple. The oil-free, 4-oz Clean and Clear acne moisturizer contains salicylic acid, an active ingredient that can help to clear- up skin blemishes and acne with regular use. Make this moisturizer part of your daily routine. Powerful and soothing, this moisturizer is a one-stop solution that's easy to use and doesn't leave any residue.

Directions

Because this is a medicine, it’s super important to start with clean skin.

So wash your face then apply a thin layer (think pea-size amount) over your face. You can do this up to 3 times a day.

If your skin starts to dry out or peel, reduce your use to once a day.

If you’re heading outside, for goodness sake wear sunscreen.

For easy use, this moisturizer features a pump. It works efficiently and locks in place for child protection. The moisturizer also dispenses evenly and never awkwardly squirts out. I like the fact I can keep my hands clean before applying moisturizer to my face. It keeps me from having to wash my hands multiple times.

How well does it moisturize?
This non-greasy formula leaves skin replenished and feeling fresh. It's not too heavy or light. It's perfect for most skin types. If you have excessive dryness, this moisturizer might not be enough. I would recommend using it only during the day and a heavier cream at night.

I do think this moisturizer is better for warmer months than colder. Unless, you have very oily skin.

Does it help acne?
When I first started using this I couldn't tell if it was making a difference. After I ran out of the moisturizer I started to breakout(more), so I really do think it makes a difference. .05% salicylic acid isn't much but it's great for a moisturizer. I like having that extra boost of treatment.

Final thoughts
This is a great moisturizer for people who need extra treatment for troubled skin. It's really does help acne and I think it even helps minor scars. I think anyone with troubled skin should try Clean & Clear's acne control moisturizer. It's cheap, effective, oil-free and leaves your skin looking great.

If you're looking for extra moisture, I recommend buying a different moisturizer. It does moisturize but there are better options on the market for that specific problem. If you have flaky acne check out this post.

One tip, good news and nail look of the day

Also, don't forget to vote on my two current polls. The first one is located at the top of Taylorpiebeauty.com and the other is at the very bottom of the website.             This Weeks Tip
                     Johnson's baby oil
Do makeup removers irritate your eyes? Do you hate spending money on expensive makeup removers? Well I have a solution for you. Use baby oil! You get 20 fl oz. for only $3.84.Not only do you get baby soft skin with Johnson's baby oil but it's also great for removing your makeup. I use this everytime I wear makeup and I'm never let down. It's gentle, moisturizing and effective. When I use it, I squirt some of the oil onto a cotton pad and gently message my eyes in circular motions. When your done messaging your eye will have black oil all over it. Just grab a washcloth and gently swipe your eyes. Voila, all of your makeup is gone! Now your left with clean, moisturized eyes. Try it sometime. If you don't like using it on your eyes, moisturize your body with it.

Ingredients: mineral oil and frangrance

                      Good news
                     Lorac Cosmetics SummerGLO palette
Starting this Saturday, I will have a giveaway for the new Lorac SummerGLO palette. I will post all the details this weekend. Be sure to come back to taylorpiebeauty.com to enter. You can also subscribe to my channel through email(located at the bottom of the website). Good luck!

                Nails of the day
                 Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Gloss
You can buy this nail polish for around $5. I bought mine at CVS but I'm sure they're available where any Covergirl Cosmetics are sold. You don't need a top coat for this nail polish. They provide a long-lasting shiny coat alone. I do think you need to do touch ups during the week though. Sometimes the polish chips and I have to go over it with more polish. Overall, I really like these nail polishes. Plus, they're really affordable. Today I used one coat of Coral Silk.
