Dermablend Professional Smooth Indulgence Concealer-review, photos

Hello!
Today's post is about a concealer made by Dermablend Professional. The Smooth Indulgence Concealer can be bought for $22. There are 6 different shades ranging from fair to dark. With each tube you get .3 fl oz. You can purchase it on dermblend.com or Ulta

After seeing Casandra Bankson's camo confession I was very eager to get my hands on a Dermablend product. For my first experience with Dermablend I decided to go with a concealer. I didn't want to spend a lot on a product before I know what color I am and how my skin reacts to their ingredients. So far I'm impressed! However, I do wish the color range had more options. I got the Smooth Indeulgence Concealer in the lightest color and I fear it's too dark for me. Hopefully, the rest of their cosmetic line isn't like this. That'll be very disappointing! BUT let's not be negative here. I think Dermablend is an outstanding brand.

Details
Provides twice the coverage of a classic concealer for up to 12 hours of wear (16 hours of wear with Setting Powder). A soft touch to skin, Smooth Indulgence Concealer evens complexion and won't enhance fine lines or surface imperfections. Provides all day hydration with SPF 20 Sunscreen. The main ingredient is water not oil.

 For full coverage of:
  • Rosacea
  • Redness
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Minor acne scars
  • Dark under-eye circles
  • Isolated facial skin flaws

Price
$22 for a 9 mL-.3 fl. Oz. Tube.

Color range
Nude, Sand, Sable, Honey, Carmel and Mocha. (I have the shade Nude)
As I mentioned before, the concealers are lacking in the shade department. The lightest shade isn't suitable for fair skintones and the dark shade doesn't look deep enough for those with darker skin.

The packaging
The concealer comes in a small, white .3 fl. Oz. Squeeze tube. I like this a lot better because it keep bacteria from getting into the concealer. Concealers that come with wands/sponges are transferred back and froth to your face, which is unsanitary. It's the same for pots. Your finger is constantly going back and forth from the jar to your face and it's hard telling what other germs you have picked up from everything else.
The tube itself is very sturdy. The lid hasn't cracked and it easily screws on tightly.

The consistency
It has a thin consistency. A little goes a very long way and I just dab a small dot on the areas that I need more coverage. Personally, I think using your fingers to blend it out looks more natural on the face. While, a concealer brush works best under the eyes. BUT any application method should look fine if you apply it properly.

How does it wear/apply
I haven't noticed any blotchiness, creasing, fading, it doesn't oxidize or dry out my skin. It applies smoothly and I'm able to get a even, lightweight finish. If I set with a powder I can get around 10-12 hours wear from the concealer without it fading or starting to crease(hardly noticeable). It you don't like powders then just take a hour or two away from the wear time.
Luckily, it doesn't oxidize. Otherwise, it would be too dark for me.
I'm happy to say it doesn't dry out the under eyes or face. I always apply a moisturizer anyways but I still don't think it would dry the under eyes.

How well does it cover?

Acne
I would say the coverage is medium. I can't get it to cover my acne completely but I still feel confident enough to go out in public. You might beable to get a full coverage if you wear a full coverage foundation but I like to keep my foundation light to prevent a cake-y look. That's up to you though! Whatever works best for you.

Here's a picture of my acne

Pigmentation/dark marks
This concealer covers ALL of my pigmentation! It looks really natural and it doesn't take a lot in the process. Unfortunately, it doesn't cover my dark acne scars. I can still see a purple shade from the scar when I wear my makeup. BUT that's to be expected when you wear a concealer that claims to be medium coverage(covers minor scars). If you need a full coverage concealer I would suggest MAC's Pro Long wear concealer or Makeup Forevers full Coverage concealer. A lot of people say the Hard Candy Glamoflouge works great for acne/scarring but I have the same problem with that concealer as I do with the Smooth Indulgence concealer(let me know if you want a quick review of the Hard Candy concealer).

Redness
It completely covers redness around my nose all day!

Final thoughts
Overall, this seems like a great everyday concealer. I prefer something with more coverage for formal events but I have a lot of acne. I think this concealer would be just enough for the average person. Some might even beable to get a full coverage from it. I just can't because that would be pretty much my whole face caked up with concealer(no joke).
I also wish the shade choices were better. I feel like the lightest shade is too dark and yellow for me. Do y'all feel the same way? BUT with that aside it really is a great concealer. I definitely recommend it to anyone on the market for a new concealer.

Pros
Covers most of my acne, dark under eyes and redness
Blends smoothly
Wear time is long
Doesn't crease
A little goes long way
Looks natural
Doesn't dry out my skin
It's not blotchy
It's doesn't oxidize
Solid medium coverage(full for some areas)
Lightweight
Covers minor scars

Cons
Poor shade selection
Doesn't cover dark acne scars

Weekly tip, beauty news and nail color of the week

Hello!
Now that I'm back on track, I'm happy to bring you this weeks tip, beauty news and nail color.

How is that time of the week again? Where has time gone? I still can't believe how fast the summer is flying by. Before we know it Christmas will be here. I personally can't wait for all of the holiday makeup but I don't want the summer to come to an end.
ANYWAYS, I'm getting off track here...  I hope you enjoy the post! I'm sure you don't want to hear my ranting, haha.

Weekly Tip
When you're using dry shampoo don't use it the morning when you're getting ready. Spray your hair the night before and sleep with the dry shampoo in your hair. This way the shampoo has more time to soak all of the oil out of your hair. Then all you have to do in the morning is brush the dry shampoo in and you're all done!

Beauty news
This weeks beauty news is based from Taylorpiebeauty.com. Just the other day I posted a picture and asked which palette everyone would like to see in a giveaway. Click here to see the post. Be sure to check it out and tell me which palette you want to win. All you have to do is leave a comment below(not this post) and say the name of the palette. You have a month to do so then I will tell you which palette won and how to enter. The giveaway is celebrating the 5 month milestone of TaylorPieBeauty.com! Thank you for participating!

Nail color of the week

Sally Hansens Hard as Nails nail polish in the color, 370- no hard feelings.
I love his nail polish! It's long-lasting with a top coat( this picture is a day after and I have done so many house chores since painting my nails) , non streaky and opaque. I could seriously use this nail polish for the rest of the summer. No joke!

Are you going to vote for the giveaway?
Is there a different palette that you want?

June All-Star Winner- What do I use Coconut Oil for in my beauty regimen?

Hello!
Today's post is my June All-Star Winner. Every month I pick a product that stood out to me and has won a place in my holy grail status. This month I picked my my Organic Coconut Oil. I know it's not makeup and it's not as exciting as blush or lipstick. However, coconut has so many wonderful beauty uses. So continue reading to find out what makes coconut oil worthy of being Junes All-star winner!

I found my coconut oil at Krogers for around $6-8.  It came in a glass jar with a metal lid that screws on. You can use it for cooking or beauty related reasons.

On the back of the jar they wrote " an excellent skin moisturizer, lip balm or hair treatment". BUT what all can you use coconut oil for?

I use it for my...
Facial moisturizer
Makeup remover
 dry patches on my body
Undereye cream
Conditioning my hair
Softening my cuticles
As a lip balm
Whitening teeth/ breath freshener
Natural cheekbone highlight
Makeup Brush cleaner
Preventing stretch marks

How well does it work for all of the uses?

Facial moisturizer-  My Benefit Total Moisture Cream is now shoved to the back of my cabinet, because I found a new HOLY GRAIL moisturizer! Coconut Oil! Unlike commercial moisturizers, Coconut Oil is rich, goes deep into the skin and is naturally long-lasting... While still strengthening your skin tissue and removing build up from dead skin cells on the surface. So your left with a flake free canvas BUT it doesn't stop there. Coconut Oil contains fanatastic antibacterial & anti fungal properties. Which will fight acne and keep your skin clear and healthy. HELLO, beautiful skin!
I'm also worry free about my skin being dehydrated from the water based moisturizers or suffocation from petroleum-based creams. If applied lightly, Coconut Oil feels comfortable and breathable. I just can get enough! Plus, the smell is divine!

Removing makeup-  I love using it to remove my foundation. On the nights that I need to remove my foundation I grab a tissue and rub some coconut oil on it. Then I gently rub the Coconut Oil on my face and all the makeup is gone!
Of course, no eyemakeup stands a chance against Coconut Oil. It breaks it all down, even waterproof mascara! Even better, your left with a hydrated eye!

Moisturizing dry patches-  Coconut oil works wonders on dry patches. I'm left with soft skin everytime I use it.

Undereye cream-  Coconut Oil is great as an under eyes cream! It helps smooth out wrinkles, brightens the undereye area and keeps delicate eye tissue moisturized. I definitely see a difference when I use the oil!

Conditioning hair-  If you don't want to use Coconut Oil on your skin then be sure to at least use it on your hair. It makes it incredibly soft and people compliment on my hair after every use. If you want a tutorial let me know!

Softening cuticles-  It works just as well as a cuticle cream! I have very rough cuticles and Coconut Oil keeps them from peeling and cracking. All you have to do is gently message the oil onto your fingertips and they'll feel soft everytime.

Lip balm treatment- Stock up for the winter and forgot about the Chapstick tubes that we all lose! Coconut Oil works even better and the results last longer! It's seriously like an angel came down and kissed your lips. Coconut moisurizes, softens and keeps the chapped feeling away!

Whitening teeth- Ok, don't expect a miracle. Have you heard of oil pulling? It's where you put a tea spoon of Cococut oil in your mouth and swish it around for 20 minutes. If used daily it should whiten your teeth and freshen your breath, among other things as well. Have I seen a difference? Not really BUT I'd don't do it everyday. I really don't enjoy it and sometimes I just can't talk myself into the task. I think I'm going to try harder though! It has too many benefits to pass up!

Cheekbone highlight- For a natural highlight just swipe Coconut Oil over your makeup. It's really pretty for the no makeup, makeup trend. It's the same color as your skin but it leaves a fresh luminosity appearance. I do it all the time!

Makeup brush cleaner- The antibacterial and anti fungal properties will get to work while cleansing your brushes. For best results use half Coconut Oil and Dawn soap.

Stretch marks- First I just want to say it won't heal stretch marks but it DOES prevent stretch marks. So be sure to rub a thin layer to parts of your body that are prone to stretching. This includes pregnant ladies! I wish I knew this when I was pregnant.

What is the consistency like? And how does it feel on the skin?
The consistency is very thin after it's warmed up. It's not sticky, greasy or anything that's unappealing.
Coconut Oil is a solid when it's at room temperature but once you put your hand in the jar the warmth of your body turns it into its liquid state.

Too many people are worried it will feel greasy on the skin. Well, that's not true. Every time I wash my face I use  Coconut Oil mixed into my moisturizer. My skin never feels greasy and my face just drinks it up. BUT with that being said I still recommend testing it out on a small area of your face.
Just keep in mind that most of the time it's works miracles. I have acne-prone skin and I believe my skin has improved since I started using it. The antibacterial and anti-fungal proprieties really help keep acne at bay. Plus, it's super cheap.

Personally, I think very one should try to incorporate Coconut Oil into their beauty regimen. It's has so many uses and your bound to find the perfect way to use it. So pick yourself up a jar at your local grocery store.
