Living with acne and/ or other insecurities

Living with acne
Who knew something so little can have such a big impact on your life. It starts out small, then grows and grows into this huge life damaging experience. People will say, "oh you look fine" or "there's really not that much, don't be embarrassed". Little did they know acne was/is a major factor in my life. It's all I saw when I looked at myself in the mirror and it's all I thought about when people saw me. Others with beautiful skin just don't understand how depressing a face full of acne can be. How could they? It's tormenting when people judge your blemishes and they don't experience that. Not only do they judge my acne but I judged it myself. I was always criticizing myself and I hate it. Yes, people can be overweight, have crooked teeth or whatever else someone may not like about themselves but acne is a whole other level of depression.

I still remember the first time I actually cried about my breakouts. I was in the fifth grade and it was a Monday morning before school. I knew kids were judging me at school. It's so obvious when your talking to someone and their eyes wonder off to the pesky little pimples on your forehead. I was young and embarrassed. There was this time when I was on the bus and I over heard two boys talking about me. They thought I was asleep and one of them said, " it must suck to have acne like that, if my skin looked like that I think I would kill myself". I didn't say anything. I just kept on acting like I was asleep until I got home. That way they didn't have to see my suicidal skin anymore. Later that evening I went to bed wondering why this was happening to me and not my friends? Well, the next morning my mom came to my room and woke me up. I got up like every other day but that day I took a long, hard look in the mirror. I couldn't believe my face looked like a connect the dots game at my age. So I went and sat on the stairs and cried my eyes out. Of course my mom wondered what was going on and I told her how I felt about my skin. Feeling sorry for me, she told me to follow her to her room and she handed me a bottle of foundation. So I went to the bathroom and I put that liquid confidence on. I haven't stopped using foundation since then.

No one has seen me without my makeup for seven years. Well, except for my fiancĂ©. Which it took me four years to finally reveal my skin to him(3 yrs ago). It's pathetic, trust me, I know. But I can't help it. Acne is so personal to me and I don't want to share that with anyone. Before you say 'well you're posting it on the internet', that's a whole different situation. No one on the internet is going to judge my skin for the rest of my life. The people I personally know will just see me as a pimple face and not as Taylor anymore. The thought of that is just horrifying and it turns my stomach. Anyways, I'm sure you're wondering how I have managed to pull that off the last seven years. If I go stay the night somewhere then I must know four things- who all will be there that night, how early everyone gets up, who will be the first to the bathroom and if I will have a room to myself. If I don't think any of these four things will work out in my favor, I won't go. I have to be the last one to go to bed and the first to get up. No one can see my acne. I have to have a room to myself because what if they wake up in the middle of the night and look at my face? It's not Halloween all year long! I don't let my family or friends see my makeup free face and I don't plan to. These red dots on my face make me stress about useless things that most people wouldn't even think about. It would be nice to wake up and know that no one is going to stare at your face in disgust. Every night I pray to god that I could have perfect skin like everyone else that's in my life. Of course, that's not gonna happen to me anytime soon.

Right after my praying, I think of scenarios in my head. What if someone's in the bathroom before me in the morning? I will have to act like I'm asleep until the coast is clear. Maybe I should just stay up all night so I can conceal my horrifying acne before it's discovered. I think I would rather risk my health than let people see what I try to hide everyday. I can be starving, someone needs the bathroom or maybe I have the flu but it doesn't matter. I MUST rush to the bathroom and spend a hour doing my makeup. I will never experience waking up on Christmas morning with my family or waking up for breakfast with everyone else. I'm stuck with acne and there's nothing I can do about it. I don't even enjoy going outside. I'm sure if you have ance you feel this way, too. Acne is just more noticeable outside and all of the marks turn purple. So I just stay inside all by myself everyday.

I have always felt this way until this recently. You know how people say you have to love yourself first? Well it's true. I hated myself for so long. It wasn't because I was a bad person but because there was nothing I could do for my skin. Hormonal acne is just one of those things you have to live with and you can't ignore it. So I finally just accepted my acne. Don't get my wrong I still despise it but I can now look at myself in the mirror without focusing on my skin. Behind the funky, infected pores is a girl who wishes it was sociably acceptable to have acne. But to be honest it doesn't have to be. Who cares what people think. I shouldn't let other people hold me back and neither should anyone else. The depression fades when you take away the hate from within yourself. It's like being the person you always wanted to be but yet your still yourself. I know people still judge me but I honestly don't care.  It truly brings happiness into my life. I just hope everyone else with acne can feel the same way I do.

I always ask myself where I would be if I didn't have acne. I honestly think I would be living a whole other life. I'm furious and grateful at the same time. I wish I could have done the things I wanted to but I also love the things I'm doing now. If it wasn't for acne I'm not sure if I would have a spot in my heart for makeup and I  wouldn't be here on my blog telling you this story. My acne has always been on my bad side but at the same time it created who I am. I understand how insecurities work and I actually want to help people. I know how people feel and I know the right things to say. I now know how to live with the bad and ugly things in life. I still can't go in public without makeup on but I do accept the fact that I have acne. I can also say it has made me a stronger person and I have a different look at life then most people do. Cherish what you love about yourself and grow stronger from the things you hate. Most of all don't judge yourself like I use to. I know it feels like you're alone in the world but you're not. I haven't actually seen anyone with worse skin than mine but I know mines not as bad as other peoples that I see on the internet. So, I love who I am and now it's your turn. Accept what you hate and the hatred will no longer exist.

Oh and for the people who say I shouldn't wear foundation because it's causing my breakouts, it's not. I only wear foundation 1-2 times a week. Besides, it's already confirmed that it's my hormones and genetic factors that cause my breakouts.

Tutorial: How to clean your makeup brushes

Hello!
Today I'm going to share my brush cleansing routine. I really want to go ahead and put this on TaylorPieBeauty.com because it's such an important step to take in your beauty life. I can't believe I use to skip washing my brushes. I hope I can convince you to wash yours as well! It makes a hell of a difference.

A lot of people think it's ok to skip cleaning your brushes but it's not! You're brushes are a breading ground for bacteria and it's unsanitary to use them when they're unwashed. BUT that's not the only reason... When you have build up of products on your brushes, you can't possibly get the best finish. It's the same thing as your face. Do you apply makeup with yesterday's makeup still on? No, I'm sure you don't. So why do the same with your brushes?

Brush cleaning removes
Old makeup
Dirt and debris
Oil
 bacteria
Dead skin

Benefits
Keeps the bristles soft
Prevents breakouts
Better makeup application
Brushes last longer

What can brushes be cleaned with?
Brush shampoo
Baby shampoo
 Dish soap (my favorite)
Coconut oil mixed with shampoo
Soap bar

How often should you wash your brushes?
It really varies from person to sperson. If you're not prone to breakouts I think cleaning your brushes every 7-10 days is fine. Now if you ARE prone to breakouts then I recommend washing all of them once a week. Just to be safe though, I wash my foundation and concealer brush after every single use. I'm constantly running those specific brushes over my breakouts and I prefer sanitizing them before my next use. I just think it's better for my skin this way and ever since I started this routine I have seen a huge difference in my acne. If you don't have the time to wash them at least spritz them with alcohal when you're done with your makeup.

It's also a good idea to wipe off your eye brushes after every use. It's a horrific site when you go to apply a light shade and it's black from yesterday's look. Just trust me on this one.
Baby wipes are just fine for wiping them off. So don't think you have to go through the whole cleansing routine everyday, it's unnecessary.

What about beauty blenders?
I use Dawn dish soap to wash my beauty blender before every use. Your suppose to dampen them before you use them anyways so it's not really another step added to your routine.
One thing I like to do is put my beauty blender in the microwave for 20-30 seconds(after washing). This kills the bacteria, takes the extra water out of the sponge and helps "melt" your foundation into your skin during application(if still warm). I do this every single time I use it and I don't think I will ever stop. Just be sure not to leave it in there for too long. The last time I did it I pushed zero twice(3 mins) and it melted. Now I have to go purchase a new one, boo!

What you will need...
Dawn dish soap
Towel for drying
Running water

Some people use a brush egg or mitten to clean their brushes. I don't really find them to be necessary. I have always used my hands and will continue doing so.
If you have a million brushes then it might not hurt to have one. However, don't feel the need to purchase one if you can't dish out the money for it. It's not a must have.

The first thing you need to do
Gather all of your supplies and dirty brushes. For this tutorial I'm using the e.l.f brush shampoo and dawn dish soap. Usually, dawn is the only thing I use but I recieved the brush shampoo for free so I'm trying to finish off the bottle. So far I do like it but later on I will post a full review. So keep an eye out for that post.

When I wash my brushes I always do them at the same time but just for this post I'm going to be washing three different kinds of brushes. A Multi purpose face brush, eye blending brush and a comb brush.
Also be sure to find a decent sized towel. The bigger the better, depending on the size of your brush collection.

Everytime I go to wash my brushes I go to my bathroom sink. I think it's best when you have a clean environment, so be sure to sanitize your sink before washing.

Now let's start cleaning!
The first thing I like to do is dampen my brush in lukewarm water. It's the same as when you wash your hands, hair and teeth. The soap will lather up a lot easier and more efficiently. All I do is turn on the faucet and hold my brush under the running water for about ten seconds.

Grab your soap
After my brushes are drenched in water I pour a dime sized amount of soap onto the top of the brush. You don't have to use that much soap but I personally enjoy a good lather.

Now firmly hold the ferrule of the brush and rub the brush on your hand in circular motions. It doesn't take very long. I usually keep on going until I don't see anymore makeup on the bristles. After I suspect the brush is clean, I rinse it off and add a dot of soap to start the process all over again.

If the soap is clean, then the brush is clean.

Drying
After you're done washing rinse your brushes off.

Now gently swirl your brushes on your towel. This helps with getting the excess water off of your brushes before shaping/drying them.

Shaping
Make sure you shape your brushes! To shape them I run each brush through my hand while it's closed(fist). Do this step as many times as you want. I personally like to do it until the brush is a smooth as I can get it.

All done!
Now just lay them down and you're all done! You can leave them there or move them to a convenient area. I prefer my vanity and I like to put something under the towel to prop up the ends. That's not needed but your brushes will last longer if you do it. The reason being, the water will run into the ferrule and loosen up the glue over time.

There are many ways to clean your brushes but this is the way I like to do it. It's easy, fast and cost effective.

Dermablend Professional Smooth Indulgence Concealer-review, photos

Hello!
Today's post is about a concealer made by Dermablend Professional. The Smooth Indulgence Concealer can be bought for $22. There are 6 different shades ranging from fair to dark. With each tube you get .3 fl oz. You can purchase it on dermblend.com or Ulta

After seeing Casandra Bankson's camo confession I was very eager to get my hands on a Dermablend product. For my first experience with Dermablend I decided to go with a concealer. I didn't want to spend a lot on a product before I know what color I am and how my skin reacts to their ingredients. So far I'm impressed! However, I do wish the color range had more options. I got the Smooth Indeulgence Concealer in the lightest color and I fear it's too dark for me. Hopefully, the rest of their cosmetic line isn't like this. That'll be very disappointing! BUT let's not be negative here. I think Dermablend is an outstanding brand.

Details
Provides twice the coverage of a classic concealer for up to 12 hours of wear (16 hours of wear with Setting Powder). A soft touch to skin, Smooth Indulgence Concealer evens complexion and won't enhance fine lines or surface imperfections. Provides all day hydration with SPF 20 Sunscreen. The main ingredient is water not oil.

 For full coverage of:
  • Rosacea
  • Redness
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Minor acne scars
  • Dark under-eye circles
  • Isolated facial skin flaws

Price
$22 for a 9 mL-.3 fl. Oz. Tube.

Color range
Nude, Sand, Sable, Honey, Carmel and Mocha. (I have the shade Nude)
As I mentioned before, the concealers are lacking in the shade department. The lightest shade isn't suitable for fair skintones and the dark shade doesn't look deep enough for those with darker skin.

The packaging
The concealer comes in a small, white .3 fl. Oz. Squeeze tube. I like this a lot better because it keep bacteria from getting into the concealer. Concealers that come with wands/sponges are transferred back and froth to your face, which is unsanitary. It's the same for pots. Your finger is constantly going back and forth from the jar to your face and it's hard telling what other germs you have picked up from everything else.
The tube itself is very sturdy. The lid hasn't cracked and it easily screws on tightly.

The consistency
It has a thin consistency. A little goes a very long way and I just dab a small dot on the areas that I need more coverage. Personally, I think using your fingers to blend it out looks more natural on the face. While, a concealer brush works best under the eyes. BUT any application method should look fine if you apply it properly.

How does it wear/apply
I haven't noticed any blotchiness, creasing, fading, it doesn't oxidize or dry out my skin. It applies smoothly and I'm able to get a even, lightweight finish. If I set with a powder I can get around 10-12 hours wear from the concealer without it fading or starting to crease(hardly noticeable). It you don't like powders then just take a hour or two away from the wear time.
Luckily, it doesn't oxidize. Otherwise, it would be too dark for me.
I'm happy to say it doesn't dry out the under eyes or face. I always apply a moisturizer anyways but I still don't think it would dry the under eyes.

How well does it cover?

Acne
I would say the coverage is medium. I can't get it to cover my acne completely but I still feel confident enough to go out in public. You might beable to get a full coverage if you wear a full coverage foundation but I like to keep my foundation light to prevent a cake-y look. That's up to you though! Whatever works best for you.

Here's a picture of my acne

Pigmentation/dark marks
This concealer covers ALL of my pigmentation! It looks really natural and it doesn't take a lot in the process. Unfortunately, it doesn't cover my dark acne scars. I can still see a purple shade from the scar when I wear my makeup. BUT that's to be expected when you wear a concealer that claims to be medium coverage(covers minor scars). If you need a full coverage concealer I would suggest MAC's Pro Long wear concealer or Makeup Forevers full Coverage concealer. A lot of people say the Hard Candy Glamoflouge works great for acne/scarring but I have the same problem with that concealer as I do with the Smooth Indulgence concealer(let me know if you want a quick review of the Hard Candy concealer).

Redness
It completely covers redness around my nose all day!

Final thoughts
Overall, this seems like a great everyday concealer. I prefer something with more coverage for formal events but I have a lot of acne. I think this concealer would be just enough for the average person. Some might even beable to get a full coverage from it. I just can't because that would be pretty much my whole face caked up with concealer(no joke).
I also wish the shade choices were better. I feel like the lightest shade is too dark and yellow for me. Do y'all feel the same way? BUT with that aside it really is a great concealer. I definitely recommend it to anyone on the market for a new concealer.

Pros
Covers most of my acne, dark under eyes and redness
Blends smoothly
Wear time is long
Doesn't crease
A little goes long way
Looks natural
Doesn't dry out my skin
It's not blotchy
It's doesn't oxidize
Solid medium coverage(full for some areas)
Lightweight
Covers minor scars

Cons
Poor shade selection
Doesn't cover dark acne scars

Weekly tip, beauty news and nail color of the week

Hello!
Now that I'm back on track, I'm happy to bring you this weeks tip, beauty news and nail color.

How is that time of the week again? Where has time gone? I still can't believe how fast the summer is flying by. Before we know it Christmas will be here. I personally can't wait for all of the holiday makeup but I don't want the summer to come to an end.
ANYWAYS, I'm getting off track here...  I hope you enjoy the post! I'm sure you don't want to hear my ranting, haha.

Weekly Tip
When you're using dry shampoo don't use it the morning when you're getting ready. Spray your hair the night before and sleep with the dry shampoo in your hair. This way the shampoo has more time to soak all of the oil out of your hair. Then all you have to do in the morning is brush the dry shampoo in and you're all done!

Beauty news
This weeks beauty news is based from Taylorpiebeauty.com. Just the other day I posted a picture and asked which palette everyone would like to see in a giveaway. Click here to see the post. Be sure to check it out and tell me which palette you want to win. All you have to do is leave a comment below(not this post) and say the name of the palette. You have a month to do so then I will tell you which palette won and how to enter. The giveaway is celebrating the 5 month milestone of TaylorPieBeauty.com! Thank you for participating!

Nail color of the week

Sally Hansens Hard as Nails nail polish in the color, 370- no hard feelings.
I love his nail polish! It's long-lasting with a top coat( this picture is a day after and I have done so many house chores since painting my nails) , non streaky and opaque. I could seriously use this nail polish for the rest of the summer. No joke!

Are you going to vote for the giveaway?
Is there a different palette that you want?
Have you tried this nail polish?

June All-Star Winner- What do I use Coconut Oil for in my beauty regimen?

Hello!
Today's post is my June All-Star Winner. Every month I pick a product that stood out to me and has won a place in my holy grail status. This month I picked my my Organic Coconut Oil. I know it's not makeup and it's not as exciting as blush or lipstick. However, coconut has so many wonderful beauty uses. So continue reading to find out what makes coconut oil worthy of being Junes All-star winner!

I found my coconut oil at Krogers for around $6-8.  It came in a glass jar with a metal lid that screws on. You can use it for cooking or beauty related reasons.

On the back of the jar they wrote " an excellent skin moisturizer, lip balm or hair treatment". BUT what all can you use coconut oil for?

I use it for my...
Facial moisturizer
Makeup remover
 dry patches on my body
Undereye cream
Conditioning my hair
Softening my cuticles
As a lip balm
Whitening teeth/ breath freshener
Natural cheekbone highlight
Makeup Brush cleaner
Preventing stretch marks

How well does it work for all of the uses?

Facial moisturizer-  My Benefit Total Moisture Cream is now shoved to the back of my cabinet, because I found a new HOLY GRAIL moisturizer! Coconut Oil! Unlike commercial moisturizers, Coconut Oil is rich, goes deep into the skin and is naturally long-lasting... While still strengthening your skin tissue and removing build up from dead skin cells on the surface. So your left with a flake free canvas BUT it doesn't stop there. Coconut Oil contains fanatastic antibacterial & anti fungal properties. Which will fight acne and keep your skin clear and healthy. HELLO, beautiful skin!
I'm also worry free about my skin being dehydrated from the water based moisturizers or suffocation from petroleum-based creams. If applied lightly, Coconut Oil feels comfortable and breathable. I just can get enough! Plus, the smell is divine!

Removing makeup-  I love using it to remove my foundation. On the nights that I need to remove my foundation I grab a tissue and rub some coconut oil on it. Then I gently rub the Coconut Oil on my face and all the makeup is gone!
Of course, no eyemakeup stands a chance against Coconut Oil. It breaks it all down, even waterproof mascara! Even better, your left with a hydrated eye!

Moisturizing dry patches-  Coconut oil works wonders on dry patches. I'm left with soft skin everytime I use it.

Undereye cream-  Coconut Oil is great as an under eyes cream! It helps smooth out wrinkles, brightens the undereye area and keeps delicate eye tissue moisturized. I definitely see a difference when I use the oil!

Conditioning hair-  If you don't want to use Coconut Oil on your skin then be sure to at least use it on your hair. It makes it incredibly soft and people compliment on my hair after every use. If you want a tutorial let me know!

Softening cuticles-  It works just as well as a cuticle cream! I have very rough cuticles and Coconut Oil keeps them from peeling and cracking. All you have to do is gently message the oil onto your fingertips and they'll feel soft everytime.

Lip balm treatment- Stock up for the winter and forgot about the Chapstick tubes that we all lose! Coconut Oil works even better and the results last longer! It's seriously like an angel came down and kissed your lips. Coconut moisurizes, softens and keeps the chapped feeling away!

Whitening teeth- Ok, don't expect a miracle. Have you heard of oil pulling? It's where you put a tea spoon of Cococut oil in your mouth and swish it around for 20 minutes. If used daily it should whiten your teeth and freshen your breath, among other things as well. Have I seen a difference? Not really BUT I'd don't do it everyday. I really don't enjoy it and sometimes I just can't talk myself into the task. I think I'm going to try harder though! It has too many benefits to pass up!

Cheekbone highlight- For a natural highlight just swipe Coconut Oil over your makeup. It's really pretty for the no makeup, makeup trend. It's the same color as your skin but it leaves a fresh luminosity appearance. I do it all the time!

Makeup brush cleaner- The antibacterial and anti fungal properties will get to work while cleansing your brushes. For best results use half Coconut Oil and Dawn soap.

Stretch marks- First I just want to say it won't heal stretch marks but it DOES prevent stretch marks. So be sure to rub a thin layer to parts of your body that are prone to stretching. This includes pregnant ladies! I wish I knew this when I was pregnant.

What is the consistency like? And how does it feel on the skin?
The consistency is very thin after it's warmed up. It's not sticky, greasy or anything that's unappealing.
Coconut Oil is a solid when it's at room temperature but once you put your hand in the jar the warmth of your body turns it into its liquid state.

Too many people are worried it will feel greasy on the skin. Well, that's not true. Every time I wash my face I use  Coconut Oil mixed into my moisturizer. My skin never feels greasy and my face just drinks it up. BUT with that being said I still recommend testing it out on a small area of your face.
Just keep in mind that most of the time it's works miracles. I have acne-prone skin and I believe my skin has improved since I started using it. The antibacterial and anti-fungal proprieties really help keep acne at bay. Plus, it's super cheap.

Personally, I think very one should try to incorporate Coconut Oil into their beauty regimen. It's has so many uses and your bound to find the perfect way to use it. So pick yourself up a jar at your local grocery store.

Do you use Coconut Oil?
What do you use it for?

Temporary Dip dye tutorial using Kool Aid

Hello!
I have a very fun tutorial to share with you today! Do you ever feel envious of people with bright colored hair? BUT don't want to make the commitment to colored hair. Well now you can temporarily color your hair using one cheap product!

Disclaimer: Some people have mentioned the red stains their blonde hair. Please, consider that this technique might be permanent.

Kool Aid
I know it sounds like a hot mess but trust me it looks so pretty. It's not sticky as long as if you buy the unsweetened kool aid. Just take a look at the picture below and see for yourself how pretty it can be!

The method that I used is called dip dye. It's pretty popular among younger people and I thought I should give it a try. You don't have to limit yourself to the tips. Go ahead and dye all of your hair if you want to. Whatever makes you happy! Remember just to have fun and that the coloring won't stay in forever.

The vibrancy of the shade depends on how diluted the kool aid is and the amount of time you leave your hair in the bowel. The more water you add to the mixture, the lighter your hair will turn out.

Supplies

2 packs of unsweetened Kool Aid
2 cups of water
1 cooking pot
Hair Comb
Towel
Timer

Directions

1. Make sure that you haven't washed your hair the day of the coloring or used any hair products. If you already washed it just wait until tomorrow. When your ready be sure to brush all of the knots out of your hair.

2. Pick out two packets of unsweetened Kool Aid and dump them into a cooking pot. They can be any color that you want.

3. Then add two cups of water into the cooking pot.

4. After mixing, put the pot on the stove and heat to a boiling.

5. After the dye reaches to a biol, take it off the stove and put it on the counter.

6. Immediately put the tips of your hair in the pot. Any length is fine. It's up to you how high you want the dye to go.

7. Set an alarm for 3-5 minutes. You can even go up to ten if you want the color to be really bright!

8. As your hair is still sitting in the bowel grab your comb and brush through your hair. Just don't go up too high. This step is to avoid a straight line of dye in the middle of the hair. It looks better when you fade it in using a comb.

9. When the timer goes off  take your hair out and pat it dry with a towel.

10. Let your hair air dry or if you're in a rush use a blow dryer.

11. Viola! You now have a temporary dip dye! It should wash out in about a month.

Tips
Be sure to wrap an old towel around your body! The Kool Aid dye can stain clothes.

Have someone do it for you. This is a two person job.

Sit on a chair while your hair is in the dye. It can get tiring while holding your head up.

Remember that you are going to brush the color up! So don't put too much of your hair in the pot.

Be sure to comb the line where the dye ends or you will be left with a straight line of dye.

I suggest only putting your hair in there for 5 minutes. You get plenty of color this way!

Be sure to use a towel that is old. The dye stains clothes.

If you need the dye out before a month, use baking soda or vinegar to remove the dye. Just keep in mind that this is not a guaranteed time period. The color will fade but it really depends on how often you wash your hair.

Maybelline Dream Pure BB Cream with acne treatment- review for acne prone skin

Hello!

If you followTaylorpiebeauty on Istagram, then you probably know I have been working on review for this product. For some reason I have a love/ hate relationship with this BB cream. If you're not familiar with this BB cream let me tell you a little bit about it.

This BB cream is made by Maybelline and it sells for $8 at most drugstores. There are 5-6 shades in 1fl oz squeeze tubes.  It's made for combination/ or blemish-prone skin. This BB Cream features 8 great skin benefits(listed below) that create healthy looking skin.
It has 2% Salicylic Acid , which is one of the highest amount that you can get without a prescription.

Uses
for the treatment of acne
helps clear up acne blemishes and allows skin to heal

8 Benefits
1. Clears acne ✔️✖️
2. Conceals imperfections✖️
3.Minimizes the looks of pores✔️✖️
4. Reduces the appearance of redness✔️
5. Adjusts to skin tone✔️
6. Hydrates and Smoothes✖️
7. Enhances and clarifies ✖️
8. 0% oils and lightweight feel✔️✖️

How does it perform

Does it clear acne?
Personally, I didn't notice a difference in the appearance of my skin. I already have Saliciylic Acid in my daily treatments and believe the BB Cream just over did it. Everytime I wear it my skin gets really dry and feels irritated. BUT with that put aside, I haven't experienced clearer skin.

Does it conceal imperfections?
No, it's too sheer to conceal major imperfections and it's not buildable. When I have more than one layer on it looks cake-y and feels heavy.

Does it minimize the appearance of pores?
Somewhat. It hides some pores but if you have large pores, then the BB cream accentuates them. Also, as the BB Cream fades your pores start to show through.

Does it reduce the appearance of redness?
Yes, it evens out your skintone just fine. So if you have redness anywhere on your face you may like this BB Cream.

Does it adjust to your skin tone?
Yes, I picked the color that was within my shade range and it matched perfectly to my skin.

Does it hydrate and smooth?
No! It leaves my skin feeling dry and makes my acne peel even worse. My skin also didn't look or feel smooth.

Does it enhance and clarify?
No! It made my skin dry and cake-y.

Does it have a lightweight feel?
Yes and no. If you apply a very thin layer it will feel fine for a couple hours. However, it starts to feel heavy throughout the day.
If your like me and want more coverage then I'm sure you'll want more than one layer. BUT.. If you do that then you're left with a mask feeling and I gotta say it's not too comfortable.
I gave it a check mark above because on the directions it does say " for best results apply a thin layer of Dream Pure BB cream on skin. Can be used with or without a moisturizer". So keep that in mind if you are worried about it feeling too heavy. I'm sure some people love it and others hate it.

Just for a reference here is a picture of my acne

The packaging
The packaging is nice.
It comes in a squeeze tube. Which is good for sanitary reasons.
The lid stays on tight and it's easy to remove.
The packaging itself is very slim and easy to travel with.
Overall, I love the feel, look and colors of the tube this BB Cream comes in.

The consistency and finish
The consistency is just right. It's neither too thin or thick. Which surprises me because it feels so mask like on my face.
I feel that its best if you set it with a powder in the tzone. Otherwise, I feel as if it truly never sets and feels tacky.
It dries to slightly dewy finish. If you have oily skin I don't think you will enjoy it. Oil can easily break through in the tzone.
The coverage is sheer. It's not buildable(if you don't want cake-y skin).
I can wear it for two hours before it starts to crease and fade.

Final thoughts
The concept of this BB Cream is genius. I know anyone with acne would love to have a BB Cream that looks gorgeous on the skin. Unfortunately, this BB Cream didn't work out for me. It didn't treat my acne or conceal it. It looks unnatural on my face. It makes my skin dry. It doesn't improve the appearance of my large pores. The wear time isn't very long. I do like the packaging, price, the consistency and how it adjusts to my skintone. I don't hate this BB Cream to the point that I need to throw it away. I will probably finish it but I'm not going to repurchase it.

2 of the 8 benefits worked. 3 of the 8 benefits sort of worked. The rest(3) did not.
(all of the benefits are listed above)

Pros
Packaging
Price
Consistency
Adjusts to skintone
Doesn't clog pores
Reduces redness
Minimizes small pores

Cons
Minor scent
Cake-y
Causes dry skin/accentuates dry patches
Loses the battle against acne
Sheer coverage
Doesn't minimize large pores
Wear time is short
Oil shines through after awhile

I'm sad to say this BB Cream is NOT TaylorPie approved.

Have you tried this BB Cream? What are your thoughts?

Here is a before and after picture. My model said she thought it felt light weight. However, she doesn't need as much coverage on her face. She has mild acne on her forehead and clear skin everywhere else. I did notice a difference on clear skin. It looks very natural and makes the skin look flawless. That still doesn't change my mind about my review, though. I based my review on skin that is very problematic, such as mine. You might enjoy this if you have periodic breakouts but if your skin is like mine then I say stick to foundation.
