Bridal Makeup and Beauty Tips

Congratulations on your big day! Every woman dreams of appearing perfect on their wedding day but if it was that easy, we would do it everyday.

I gathered some tips to help you get the closest to perfect as you can. I'm sure you'll be beautiful no matter what, but beauty tips never hurt anyone.

Don't try new products on your wedding day

Sometimes products just don't agree with our skin and it can result in one big red inflamed mess. The worst day to experience that would be on your wedding day! This includes any kind of beauty item that goes on your body, whether it be skincare, makeup or anything else.

Have your makeup professionally matched

We all want to look perfect on our big day and makeup is a big part of that. It pulls everything together but can also make everything look like a joke. Make sure your foundation matches you skin-tone and undertone. No one goes for a look that resembles a mask or a zombie. Go to a counter with a good reputation and have your makeup professionally matched.

Try your makeup look beforehand

This is one of the biggest rules! Always test out your makeup and the look you have in mind beforehand. It's a brides worst nightmare to pick makeup that smudges, transfers or fades. It's also a bad idea to skip the practice phase. On the big day it may seem like you have plenty of time to get ready but you don't! Your makeup needs to be spot on the first time and the best way to accomplish that is by practicing ahead of time.

Don't go too heavy

I know it can be tempting to go all out like a celebrity but brides should look fresh and subtle. Skip the bold colors on your wedding day (unless that's the way you roll). However, don't go too light-handed or it might not show up in photography. Not wearing enough makeup could also make you looked washed out from wearing so much white with little color on the face.

Wear waterproof mascara

I know it, I hate waterproof mascara too but it's essential for a wedding. You're more than likely going to cry and we don't want black tears do we?

Don't use a face mask the night before

I know you're wanting your skin to look it's best on your wedding day and a face mask seems like the answer. However, that can be a huge mistake! Some masks work so good that they bring the dirt to the surface of your skin and cause a pimple. Clean out your pores a different day. If you do decide on a mask, opt for a moisturizing one instead of a pore cleansing option.

Get plenty of rest

You've heard it before, get plenty of rest. Drink a lot of water before you go to bed and be sure to lay down at a decent hour. In the morning your skin will look healthier and radiant. Plus, those hideous under eye bags will be less apparent.

Pluck/wax your eyebrows the day before not the day of the wedding

Remember to groom your eyebrows a day before the wedding. Irritation can occur and cause the area to inflame and turn red. Booo!

Wear lipstick liner and transfer resistant lipstick

Be sure to wear lip liner to help prevent feathering from your lipstick. And if you want to prevent your new husband from having pink lips then wear a transfer proof lipstick too. Matte shades are good for that, or better yet, a liquid lipstick won't budge or transfer the whole day. Just be familiar with matte lipstick before your wedding day. A lot of people say they are too drying.

Use spray deodorant

It's different when you get deodorant on your shirt but your wedding dress? There's no time to wash that big white dress like your other clothes. The best choice would be a spray deodorant. With a spray you also won't have the yucky visible deodorant creases everyone will see while you're dancing.

Don't dye your hair with a different dye the week of the wedding

Do not be courageous and try a different hair dye before the wedding. Sure you could dye your hair back to its regular shade but your hair will look fried on your wedding day. Who wants that?

Don't use fake Tanner (or spray tan) close to your wedding day

The man at the end of the isle is marrying you, not an orange. If you get a spray tan be sure to rinse off the fake part of the tanner and do it a few days before the wedding. Follow the same principle for self tanner. It would also be a disaster if the self tanner transferred onto your wedding dress!

I hope this helped you plan your bridal routine and may you have a long happy marriage!

Weekly Tip, Beauty News & Weekly Favorite

Hey, guys! Next week I'll have some new reviews up on the blog. I hauled a few items last weekend and I have been putting them to the test. The first review will be of the Colourpop liquid lipsticks, which includes the limited edition shade Chillychili. If you want to see swatches ahead of time follow TaylorPieB on Instagram!

Now let's get started with our weekly post!

Instead of throwing away that dried out gel eyeliner of yours, keep it! Give it a good clean with some soap and use it for foundation when you travel. The jar will keep your foundation safe and moist, while being travel friendly. Now you can finally save that extra space for your other favorite makeup items.

Earlier this year Milani released their Amore Matte Lip Crémes for a limited time. Everyone ended up loving them and begged Milani to make them permanent. Milani just announced this week they are going to make the line permanent next year and release new shades along with the release. Boy am I glad! I never did find any of the lip crémes. My display was always sold out and I pretty much accepted I was never going to have any. Thanks to Milani, now we'll all get the chance in 2016!

All this month everyone has been showing off the Mega Pro 2 and it inspired me to dig my old one out. I'm so happy and fortunate to have the Mega Pro 1. I love the berry theme Lorac went with and the shadows are spot on to the original Pro Palettes. You can't purchase it anymore but the Mega Pro 2 is available on Ulta's website right now(limited edition-$59). It doesn't have the same shades but the quality is the same!

Colourpop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks Review | Chilly Chili, Bumble, Solow

I always wondered why Colourpop used a "U" in their name. I read online they added a "U" because it's less boring and more unique. Hahaha, Colourpop made me appreciate them even more just because of that. With their low costs and dependable products, they have me hooked.

When the Ultra Matte Liquid lipsticks first released I was dying to try them but everything was instantly picked over. I ended up waiting a long time to try them because I was constantly adding other things to my list. But when I saw the new shades they added for fall I knew now was the time to get on the Colourpop trend. I actually wanted Bad Habit (new/LE) but it sold out before I had the chance. I went with Chilly Chili (new/LE) instead.

The Ultra Matte Liquid lipsticks sell for $6 each and they come with .11 ounces. The tube is plastic but looks expensive rather than cheap. The applicator is a standard doe foot that picks up product easily. You can buy them on Colourpop's website. Colourpop is an American brand based out of C.A.

Solow-Permanent

Solow is described as a neutral nude pink with warm undertones and a matte finish. On me it looks exactly how It was described and swatched on Colourpops website.  The application is easy but it can be hard if you like to work slow. It dried fairly quick and didn't budge once it was completely matte. One thing that bugged me about this lipstick is it crumbles. If I rub my lips together small crumbs will form on my lips. But that only happens if I try to do it. The only time I noticed any transfer was when I was eating a taco that was a little greasy. It did stay on all day though, until I went to bed, which at that point I just removed it with coconut oil. I would suggest picking this shade if you're just diving into the liquid lipstick vendetta. It's wearable and the formula is nice.

Bumble-Permanent

Bumble is a dusty warm terracotta with warm undertones and a matte finish.  This is my favorite out of the three shades I purchased (because of the color). It does apply smoothly but sets quickly and tends to flake if you apply too much or in layers. It did dry my lips out over time just like both of the other liquid lipsticks. It also wore just as long and only faded a little bit on the inner corner.

Chilly Chili-Limited Edition

Chilly Chili is a muted plummy brown with warm undertones and a semi matte finish. It didn't dry down completely like the other matte liquid lipsticks from Colourpop. This is an intense shade and It looks really dark on fair skin. It does apply evenly and smoothly. I kind of like that it's semi matte since it allows more time to finish applying before drying down. Sometimes more time is needed to apply darker shades because more precision is required. Chilly Chili did transfer a little more since it didn't dry down completely but it did last just as long as the others mainly because it's darker. It felt somewhat drying but not as drying since it's not ultra matte. I can get around 6 hours out of it with regular eating and drinking.

Overall
The finish of each lipstick is matte with absolutely no moisture levels (except for Chilly Chili). They do dry my lips out some but not to the point where they aggravate me. When applied it's best to work quickly or the lipstick will dry before you're done and they do not work well when layered. It takes anywhere between 30 seconds to a couple minutes to dry to a complete matte finish. Once dry they do not transfer unless you're eating greasy or wet foods. The lipstick won't breakup from the food but it will make it a little moist and transfer because of that. However, it will dry back down. The wear time is around 8 hours even with drinking and eating. I tried reapplying the shades but they tend to crumble when I do that. They also crumble if I rub my lips together in sweeping motions with pressure. The pigment will still remain on my lips but I do notice crumbs on my lips. However, if a thin layer is applied at the initial application this won't happen. Nonetheless, I really do like the Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks by Colourpop. I feel like there are unique shades and the price is right as well as the formula. I would recommend it to anyone who loves matte lipsticks and doesn't mind a drying formula  (that's just how liquid lipsticks are).

Photos and Swatches

Warning: These liquid lipstick are literally liquid. They do spill out of the tube. When I first swatched one it spilled directly onto my pants, went through them and got on my leg. My leg was still stained a day later and my pants will forever have Chilly Chili on them.
