10 Tips To Perfect Winged Eyeliner

Hey, guys! Over the weekend my sister came over. She played around in my makeup and really enjoyed herself. Now she's really starting to like it like I do. #makeupjunkie

When she was playing with my assortment of liners she started to practice drawing on winged liner. To my surprise she did great her first time... But Now she's realizing how daunting it can be when you first start out. Her journey has inspired me to write this post, which you already know what it is because of the title.

Tip #1  Practice! This is something you have surely already heard. When I first started I lined my eyes every night before I washed my face. Practicing is what got me where I am today. Sure, sometimes I mess up because I'm not Barbie but most of the time I can get my winged liner even. Someday you will too!

Tip #2  Purchase different liners to practice with. By that I mean try out gels, liquid, pens, whatever you can get your hands on. I personally love gel liners used with angled brushes but my sister, who is currently learning, prefers felt tip pens.

Tip #3 Have a light hand when applying the liner to your eyes. Don't press hard unless you want to decrease your precision. The lighter the touch, the sharper the precision.

Tip #4 Rest your hand on something when applying the liner. Holding your hand up causes it to shake, which means a messy line.

Tip #5 To make your wings match, start and aim your wings in the same spot. The best spot to start is the very end of your top or bottom lashes. When it comes to aiming, always aim toward the tail of your brow. If that just doesn't work, think of it as a math problem. If your liner is at a 45 degree angle on your first eye, try to mimic the 45 degree angle on the second. Just keep trying! You never know, maybe you'll come up with the next tip everyone uses.

Tip #6 Part of learning to apply winged eyeliner correctly is messing up. Sometimes we get so mad at ourselves for slightly messing up what could have been a perfect wing. There's a tip to avoid that, though. There's no reason why you should start all over again. Just use a concealer or nude liner to fix or sharpen the wing.

Tip #7 This tip is to help those of you using an angled brush to create a wing. This may be complicated to understand in text but I'll do the best I can to explain it. With your angled brush, hold it right underneath your top lashline on the outer corner where your wing is. Make sure the brush is under your lashes, as if you're tightlining your eyes. Carefully flick the brush towards the brow and create a wing. This will help you get your wings even everytime. If you're still not sure what I mean let me know in the comments below and I will create a picture tutorial.

Tip #8 Use tape or a flat surface to guide your wing. I know this is kind of cheating but in the mean time your liner will turn out straight and eventually you will get in the habit of directing your wing in the correct direction. I say do this during the day and at night practice without tape.

Tip #9 When starting, start at the base of your wing. Then draw on the top line all the way onto the middle of your eye lid. Once that is done start to lightly draw on the liner toward your inner corner. Short strokes are best for that. Lastly, go in and fill in any bold spots.

Tip #10 Want that nice sharp line at the wing? Don't create the tip of your wing by connecting the two lines. Instead leave the bottom line a little longer (bottom part of the wing)  and a nice crisp line will show.

I really hope this helps all of the newbies out there venturing into the world of winged liner. Just remember, practice makes perfect. And you're not as bad as you think!

If you're having trouble understanding anything, just let me know. I'll try to help you the best I can. Either leave a comment below or use the email gadget at the bottom of my website.

I hope this helps you become a winged liner ninja!

Weekly tip, Beauty news & Makeup favorite

Happy Friday! What are your plans for the weekend? This weekend my sisters are coming over for a visit. My boyfriend is going hunting for the weekend and I thought it would be fun to have a "grown up" girls weekend. We're going to do some masks, possibly sip on wine and watch Christmas movies.

I know my weekend plans are not the reason why you are here. So shall we move on with our weekly tip? Ok.. I just did a weird head turn while I did that (haha). Sometimes I think I should create a Youtube channel just so ya'll can see my awkward looks! Sometimes it can be hard to show my personality through text.

I started using liner brushes a while back when I was too lazy to wash my lip brush. After a while I actually found myself preferring the angled brush over my lip brush. I find that the precision is more accurate. Maybe its just because I create complex wings with that brush all the time. And no, I don't use the same brush for both my eyes and lips... I have more than one, ha. You should really try it sometime!

Pantone Universe announced their color of the year yesterday! You know what that means, a new Pantone collection by Sephora! The shades picked were Serenity (15-3919) and Pantone Rose Quartz (13-1520). The picture up above are the limited-edition products Sephora will release starting this month (December).

This is my favorite part of this post! My favorite product this week is the Too Faced Semi- Sweet Chocolate bar. I recently ordered it so I can compare it to the new Chocolate Bon Bons palette that is releasing on the 8th. Honestly, I'm surprised by how much I love this palette. I thought the original was good but the Semi-Sweet is even better. I find that the shadows are a lot smoother and more unique. I'm in total awe. If you want to see swatches come back later when I post a comparison of the three palettes. I'll also give you the details on which one is the best.

What was your favorite makeup product this week? Was it perhaps the same as mine? Let me know in the comments below. And don't forget to tell me if you're going to try this weeks tip. Fill me in on how it works out!

Acne Update | New Skincare Goodies | November 2015

It's been a while since I lasted posted an acne update. Since then, my skin has changed along with the season. Right now I'm starting to show more signs of dryness, which also results in more breakouts.

To fix the dryness I bought a heavy night cream over the weekend. I'll probably see how that works out before I spend the big bucks on a new moisturizer.

To be honest, no matter how much I spend on skincare, my skin always looks and feels the same. The only thing that really makes my skin feel different is the Glamglow Supermud mask. It doesn't make my acne go away completely but it subsides my breakouts to some degree. Though, right now I feel like it may be too drying for the colder months. I need all of the moisture I can get!

As you can see in the photo above, my breakouts are lower and closer towards my mouth. I haven't had very many on my upper cheeks. However, I'm worried I'll break out up there soon. I do every single time during  winter. I don't know if my skin just hates cold weather or I break out because of allergies (is that a thing?), or what. I just know I do break out worse when it's cold outside.

Another weird thing I have noticed are pimples on my nose. I have never broke out on my nose but for some reason I have woke up with nose pimples a couple times this month. I Don't know what that's about!

I did buy two other things along with my new moisturizer. I got the Burts Bees Natural Acne Solutions Gel Cleanser, the Loreal Youth Code Serum Instense and of course, the Olay Regenerist Regenerating Night Recovery Cream Moisturizer.

If you can't tell, I'm in a major Christmas mood. I know Thanksgiving is this week, no I don't want it to be over with, but I am in the holiday spirit! How can I not be when I already started Christmas shopping?

I pretty much made those three products my night time routine. I started two days ago and I think I have noticed a difference but it may be too early to tell. I can say I haven't been cursed with any new pimples and my skin does feel extra plump. Wouldn't it be crazy if I bought my perfect combo?! Doubt it, but hopeful.

If you want a complete skincare routine just let me know. I'm willing to do one,  but I haven't found my holy grail products yet... So it might be pointless. Plus, products that help me will only help you if your acne or skin is the same as mine.

Well that's it for now. I'll give everyone an update in a future post or on Instagram & Twitter. Let me know if you have any questions or feed back. I always enjoy reading comments from you all!
