New Years makeup tutorial -smoky eyes using the Naked 2

Head into 2015 with glamorous smoky eyes. This look is relatively simple to recreate and lasts you all the way into a new year. You can add eyeliner and glittery lips to be on the daring side. Do what you want to do on New Years. It's the one day of the year you can get away with glitter lips. If you're still not sure about it, just follow these steps to achieve a beautiful smoky look that is guaranteed to have heads turning your way.

What all you need:

Eyes
  • Eye primer ( I used Urban Decays potion primer )
  • Cool toned Brown, black and white eyeshadow (I used Urban Decays Naked 2 palette)
  • Silver pressed pigment ( I used L'Oreal's Infallible eyeshadow in silver sky)
  • Eyelashes ( I used BH Cosmetics Sassy lashes)
Lips (optional)
  • Chapstick
  • Silver pressed pigment (optional)
Brushes
  • Blending brush
  • Flat eyeshadow brush
  • Small detail brush
  • Crease brush
  • Pencil brush
Before we start I would like to point out that it's not a good idea to put glitter on your lips if they're chapped. Mine were and I couldn't get the glitter to properly smooth out on my top lip.

Now let's get started!
  1. If desired, go ahead and fill in your eyebrows.
  2. Start with primer. Apply it all over the eye area and with any left over product sweep it on the bottom lashline.
  3. Apply your cool toned brown shadow in the crease with a fluffy brush. This step will help the black shade from looking messy and help blend things out.
  4. Start with a flat eyeshadow brush and apply your black eyeshadow to your whole lid. Don't go all the way up into your crease with this shade. It will look like you have a black eye. Be sure to build it up to an intense black.
  5. Now take a crease brush and in light sweeping motions blend the black shade into the crease. Try to not be sloppy. Getting it above the crease can look very messy. Just take your time and blend in steps.
  6. Now take a fluffy brush and blend out any harsh lines around the crease. This step should keep most of the black shade in your crease but still fade it out and give it that nice faded look that you see in the picture. You will prob notice the brown shade fading as well. If you don't, feel free to lightly add a little more brown to help the process.
  7. Now grab a pencil brush and blend some of the brown under the eyes. Then follow in with the black shade. You can add as much as you want to achieve the amount of smokiness desired. I started from the outer corner and worked my all the way into the inner corner.
  8. Now pick up your silver pressed pigment with a precise brush and apply it to the center of your eye lid. I prefer rubing it in sweeping motions to avoid sharp lines from the glitter. If you don't have a silver pressed pigment, then a shade Verve may work from the Naked 2 palette.
  9. Do the same thing to the middle of the lower lash line.
  10. Optional, add eyeliner. (I didn't in this tutorial)
  11. Apply some white eyeshadow on your brow bone to brighten things up and to give your brows a lift.
  12. Now pop on some lashes.
  13. Apply your facial makeup.
  14. Add Chapstick to your lips and add the glitter pigment with a flat shading brush.
