Lorac Ultimate Unzipped Holiday Collection

Hey! So the other day I was on Instagram and I noticed Lorac is leasing an Unzipped collection for $80. The collection includes their Unzipped palettes, and the Unzipped blush & lipstick duo at Ulta only.

I have always been a fan of their Unzipped collection and I'm sure most of you have heard of their palettes. I figured some people were wondering if they are any good and that's why I'm here talking about them today.

I didn't go out and purchase the set but I do own every product in the set. I scored the gold palette and blush palette back in the spring when they initially released. I can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure I paid $42 for the Unzipped Gold and $25 for the blush and lipstick duo. So for all three products together my total cost was $109 plus tax. With the holiday set you save $29, plus less tax is paid. That's an amazing deal!

But how is the quality?

Unzipped Original

Unzipped Gold

The shadows in the Unzipped palettes are a different formula than the Pro palettes. They're not as soft and buttery but they are still nice. I do notice some stiffness with each matte shadow but they still perform like a good shadow. For the shimmer shadows, some can be dusty but that can be fixed if they are dampened. They are all indeed pigmented though. One shadow from the Unzipped Gold is the most pigmented shadow I have ever came across (swatches below). They do last all day with primer and yes, I do love the primer that comes with the set. It works well with any eyeshadow or liner I use.

The quality of the blush and lipstick duo is superb. The blushes are really smooth and absent of chalkiness. They really do feel like high end blushes. They blend in easily and don't look patchy once applied. The shimmery shades do not emphasize pores once blended in.  The shades are are pretty but I don't find the matte shades to be unique in color. There may already be duplicates in your collection but I do feel like the formula with these might be better. The darker shimmery (unapologetic) shade is the most unique shade, in my opinion, in the palette. It's nice for a warm, just got back from the beach, look. The lighter shimmer blush (unimaginable) has a lot of pigment but may appear as a highlight or blush topper for deeper skin tones. I also noticed more of a chunky texture with this blush but it's not noticeable unless you swatch it with your finger, you may never notice if you don't swatch your makeup.

Underrated, Unashamed, Unapologetic, Unimaginable and Girl Next Door (lipstick)

The lipstick that comes with the blush palette isn't my favorite. The color crosses that line where it's so light it looks chalky and it's just not flattering. I like the formula of the other Alter Ego lipsticks I own but I could live without this one. It is a good deal , though. The lipstick alone costs $16 so you're basically buying the palette for $9!

It all boils down to if you're after good deals on permanent items or lusting after a limited edition holiday palette... I think this set is a great deal if you're interested in the individual items but you can get them any time you want to. The only problem is you'll have to fork over more money. I think if you're a makeup collector, go for a different holiday set. However, if you're just looking for a good value, go for this set. It just depends on the buyer but I can say everything in this collection is worth every hard earned penny!

Do you own any of the Unzipped palettes?
Are you going to purchase this set?

Quick Review: Lorac Cosmetics Alter Ego Lipstick Collection

Hey, everyone! Today's post is a quick review of Lorac's Alter Ego Lipstick collection. It can be found at kohls for $35. There are 5 matte lipsticks included from the pernamnet Alter Ego lipstick line. Usually each individual lipstick costs $16 but in this set each lipstick is cut down to $7 each... Wow, what a steal!

I decided to do a quick review since this is a late post. I planned on posting it early but the work of procrastination demolished that plan. I guess I just had other posts I wanted to write first. So, this one got kicked to the back of the bus, although it shouldn't have. This set isn't just a steal, the lipsticks shades are stunning and the formula is unique. Now let's get started!

Beauty haul and mini reviews- Too Faced, Lorac, Clinique, NYX, Physicians Formula +more

There's is only one thing about the beginning of the year that is good, and that's new makeup. I have always felt like the first few months after December are cold and dreary but new releases just brighten up the beginning of the year. So of course I have done my share of damage and picked up a few of the latest things in the beauty world. I like to blame it on my blog and say I purchased everything to review but honestly, I'm a beauty junkie and I would have purchased everything anyways. Please tell me you have the same problem!

Not everything is new. I found some deals and picked up some oldies. I also needed to restock on a few things, including NYX's Dewy Setting Spray. The majority of everything is new, though. How exciting! I didn't go out and just purchase this in one outing. This haul is probably about two weeks worth. I ordered online and went to stores. To buy each product click on the price listed beside the name of the product.

Lorac Cosmetics Unzipped Gold palette $42- I have used this palette a few times and I'm majorly impressed. The shadows are smooth and rich. It doesn't take much to blend them out. There's one intense gold shade in the palette that resembles a pigment and I'm just blown away by how pretty it is. I will have a review of this palette  up as soon as possible.

Lorac Cosmetics Unzipped Cheek palette $30- I have only used this palette twice but so far everything is good. I want to go ahead and review the City Color Cosmetics blush palette and get that one out of the way. After that I'll post my full review of this palette around the same time as the eyeshadow palette. I have swatched it and the blushes are smooth and pigmented. When I wore the matte shade on the top row it lasted all day and blended out with ease. I'll just go ahead and give everyone a heads up and say the review is going to be good. So if you're dying to get it go ahead and purchase it! By the way it is exclusive to Ulta only.

Lorac Alter Ego Lipstick Collection Set $35- I'm trying to remember if I reviewed  this set already. I think I might have just posted a picture on Instagram. Anyways, I found this lipstick set at Kohl's for $35. It is Kohl's exclusive and it can't be purchased at Ulta. I have been dying to try the Alter Ego lipstick line for a while now but I always put it off for some reason but once I saw this kit I had to give in. Each lipstick is usually $16 and $35 for 5 shades is a steal. They are very pigmented and apply pretty easily. I did notice some tugging but overall I'm impressed with this matte formula. The thing that I love most is he wear time. The Alter Ego lipsticks are perfect for long nights out in town.

Too Faced Cocoa Contour kit $40-  I just got this palette in the mail the other day. I did swatch it and post some pictures on Instagram. So go check that out. As for the quality, I don't have anything to say just yet. I haven't actually applied any of the shades on my face yet but I can say they swatch beautifully, except for the highlight shade. It's a little chunky but I'm hoping it looks better once applied to the face. I should have a review up by next week and yes, it does smell like chocolate!

L'Oreal Infallible setting spray $16.99-  After reading so many reviews on this spray I had to pick it up. I used it once on Valentine's Day and I'm really impressed. Just from first impressions I noticed an extra 3-4 hours of wear and it kept everything looking nice until I washed my face.

Physicians Formula city Bronzers $13 in stores- Ok, I'm guilty. I bought the two city Bronzers purely for the prettiness of the product. Physicians Formula makes such cute products but don't get me wrong they perform just as good. I have used these two bronzers multiple times and all I have is good thoughts about them! I can't wait to share a review with you all.

Clinique Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer $27- Ah, another new thing that I'm excited about. I haven't tried it yet and I'm actually afraid that the shade I picked is too dark for me. Oh well, I guess we'll see. When I first opened the package I was shocked by how big the bottle is. I guess it's normal for a foundation but for some reason I expected it to be smaller. But then I opened the bottle and holy heck the applicator is huge! I don't really like doe foot applicators because of the whole bacteria concept but I still wanted to give this foundation a go. If I can I might try to find a pump for it. If I can't, I'll just apply he foundation to the back of my hand first I guess. Hopefully, I will have a review up within the next couple weeks. I like to take my time reviewing foundations because of my sensitive skin.

Milani Rose Blushes $7.99- Eeek, I had high hopes for the Rose blushes by Milani. I heard great things but they feel kind of cheap to me. The swatch really chalky but I haven't wore them yet. So I can't say how they perform on the cheeks. I'm actually kind of nervous because it feels like they have A LOT of Talc in them. I hope not! I guess the cuteness will be worth my time and money.

Milani Matte lipsticks $5.99- I already did a full review on these lipstick(click here for the review). Trust me, you need them in your life!

Physicians Formula Fiber Mascara $14.99- I really need to post a review of this mascara kit. I have been trying it for maybe a week or so and I'm in love. Even my friends and family noticed how big my lashes look! Maybe I will have a review up early next week.

NYX Tame and Frame brow pomade $6.99- Forget Anastasia's brow pomade. This is affordable, yet so good. I plan to do a quick review of this product at some point in the near future.

Dermablend Intense Powder Camo  $31- I only used this powder twice but so far it seems good. It does provide a lot of coverage but I think it might not be good for oily skin. I just need a little more time to test this powder out. It will probably be one of the products I review in a couple weeks.

Milani baked bronzer $9.99- This isn't a new product but I saw some people talking about it on Instagram. I haven't used it yet and I might not even do a review on it. However, at some point I will either throw it in a post somehow or let everyone know my thoughts on Instagram. But I'm always changing my mind, so who knows I might review it. When I swatched it I noticed a lot of shimmer (bad thing for bronzers) but maybe tapping the brush before applying will lessen the amount of shimmer transferred to the face. Perhaps it will be better for the warmer months only.

Tarte Tartiest Clay Paint liner $24- Dont you just love the name Tartiest! It sounds so cute to me but maybe I'm just weird. Anyway, I haven't fully put this product to the test but I can say it's easy to apply and the pigment is very dark. I actually thought the product would be bigger but I'm sure it will go a long way. I'll try to have a review up soon.

Maybelline Master Class correcting primer $9.99- I used this primer once and I'm in love! I didn't see much of a difference in the redness of my skin but it did make my foundation apply much smoother. My makeup also stayed on longer but that might have been because of the Loreal setting spay I'm currently testing out. Just to be sure I'm going to use it a couple more times without the setting spray. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Too Faced Melted lipsticks $21- I have always loved the Too Faced Melted lipsticks. The smell is divine and the pigmentation is always on point. I'm not going to do a review on them but I might do a swatch post of all the colors I have. The new shades I picked up are Melon and Chihuahua, and they are stunning!

Rimmel Velvet Matte Lip Lacquers $5.99- I have tested out about half of the shades from this line. I purchased them all and I'll post a review with swatches soon. To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about them. They seem nice but I'm not fully convinced that they're anything special. But let's just wait and see how everything works out.

City Color Intense Blush palette $7.99- Intense is the correct word for this blush palette. It should also come with a warning label that states "Warning, use a light hand or you'll look like a clown", but it doesn't so I'm telling you now. It's great and the price is right. Online it says the price is $7.99 but I found it at Five Below for $3. So I suggest looking there before you spend the extra $5 online (even though it's worthy of $8). I feel like I'm repeating myself... I'll have a review up sometime in the next couple weeks.

City Color Glowing Complexion Creme $6.99- Ugh... Do you know that intense powder smell that some makeup smells like? Well this smells like that but stronger. I'm so nervous to try this on my face but I'm also really curious about it. When I work up the courage to face the scent I'll write a revie on it. Wish me luck.

Cory Airspun Translucent powder $5.97- I got this powder becuase of Tati (Glamlifeguru vlogger). She swears by so I thought I would give it a try becuase it's so affordable. It's still sitting on my vanity. I sniffed it and was distraught by the scent of it. Hopefully when I have the time to test it the scent won't linger. I'll be sure to let ya'll know how it is in a post at some point.

Jergens Soothing Aloe lotion $4.97- If your skin gets really dry during the winter, pick this up. My hands get so dry that sometimes they look scaly and cracked. Jergens Soothing Aloe lotion is the only thing I have ever tried
that truly helps them. I just can't live without it now.

NYX Dewy Setting Spray $7.99- Repurchase! Nothing new but definitely something special. I love my Mac Fix+ but the NYX Dewy setting spray is much easier to get my hands on. Plus, they do pretty much the same thing. I'll use it to get rid of the cakey look from my foundation and boy does it works wonders. If you haven't tried it, you need to. The bottle is a decent size for the price.

Eco Tools Eye Perfecting Brush $6.98- Ok, I don't want to spoil the review so I'm not going to say much. This review is on my schedule for this Saturday and I like it. Now my lips are sealed.

Real Techniques Complexion Sponge $5.99- Just another repurchase. I must have bad luck because I already did something to it. I accidentally microwaved it too long and now it's deformed. Oh well, it still works just fine. It just has a nice curve to it. I really like this sponge for a natural look. It makes my makeup look less cakey and it's perfect for applying foundation on dry flakey skin. It's a must have and the price beats the Beauty Blender.

Rimmel Kate Moss Matte lipstick $5.49- I must have been living under a rock, I haven't even tried the Rimmel Kate Moss lipsticks. I have heard great things about them and when I saw they were on sale I had to pick up atleast one. I would have got more but all of the others were open. So I settled with one and I'm glad that I did. I'm really loving it.

Rimmel Nail Lacquer $1.50 in stores- Obviously, the 60 Second nail polishes are not new from Rimmel but I scored some for 50 cents each at Kmart. So if you love the formula like I do go pick them up before the sell is over!

I wish I could type up a review for every product on this list in short notice. Unfortunately, I have things to do and I have to put the products that are in high demand on my schedule first. If there is a product that you're extra curious about just let me know in the comments below and I'll try to move it up the review schedule. Thank you for understanding! If you're interest in swatches be sure to check out my Instagram. I typically post photos of my newest products in there.

Have you made a haul lately? If so what did you get?

Review and Swatches: Lorac Royal Lip Lustre Creme Set

Hello! Today's post is a review on Lorac's Royal Lustre Creme Set. It sells for $25 at kohls and contains 6 different shades. Three of the six shades are exclusive ( Empress, Princess and Enchanted). This set was part of Lorac's holiday collection but I ended up picking it up with a Kohls gift card. I have to say I'm really glad that I did. Usually I skip over lipglosses and head straight for lipsticks. For some reason I feel greasy when I wear chap stick or lipgloss. Fortunately, I don't have that problem with these creamy lipglosses. Want to know more? Just keep reading!

LORAC THE ROYAL LIP LUSTRE CRÈME SET

LORAC rules this season with The Royal Lip Lustre Creme Set. Give your lips the Royal treatment with our luxuriously creamy and delightfully smooth Lip Glosses that are loaded with antioxidants of Acai Berry, Pomegranate, Grape Seed and Vitamins A,C & E to help protect and soothe your luscious, regal pout. This Royal family of Lip Lustre Cremes comes complete with 6 magnificent, high-shine shades that are fit for a Queen. Own the throne with The Royal Lip Lustre Creme Set!

Shades include:

  • Empress – exclusive Pink Mauve
  • Princess – exclusive Pink
  • Enchanted – exclusive Peach Nude
  • Reign – Berry
  • Crown Jewel – Cherry Red
  • Tiara – Nude

Pigmentation
These glosses are what I consider true lipgloss. They have the right amount of pigmentation. They don't claim to have intense pigmentation like lipstick nor do they lack pigmentation like cheapo drugstore lipglosses.
Though, don't get me wrong each and every shade is very pigmented. Just becuase I consider them a true lipgloss does not mean they don't have color pay off. The color that you see in the tube is definitely what you get. I wasn't disappointed with any of the shades. In fact, I was surprised. Maybe I should buy more lipgloss...

Lasting power
Like every other lip product, the darker shades lasted longer. I was able to get three and half hours out of the two darkest shades (crown jewel and reign). The lighter shades started to disappear around three hours. Honestly, that's not a bad time frame. Most of my lipglosses disappear after one hour. Maybe it's true?? The lipglosses in this set are fit for a queen.

Application/ consistency
Ahh.. So soft and creamy. These glosses feature a small brush tip. It's great for precision and laying down intense color. For a more glossy look I I only pull the wand out once and apply it directly to my lips. When I want a more opaque coverage, I pull the wand out twice. The first layer provides just a hint of color, while the second is true to the color of the tube. They don't apply streaky. They have a slightly thicker consistency and have a very small amount of stickiness. It's only enough to make them last longer but not enough to make your hair stick to your lips. The formula also feels like a gel hybrid, which seems to help hydrate the lips. Thankfully, they are also absent of shimmer!

Packaging
This fabulous lip Creme comes housed in a durable glass(I think) tube. The wand features a small brush that is super easy to use. The wand doesn't bend or feel like it's going to break. The lipgloss tube feels very luxurious. It feels heavy and the gold lid makes it a stunner.

Overall thoughts
$25 is a heck of a deal for six lipglosses. Every shade is so darn cute. They aren't sticky or splotchy. All the shades are unique and don't overlap one another. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. For now on this will probably be a holiday set I pick up every year. I'm in love with this formula!

Soft New Years makeup tutorial for young teens

One of my New Years resolutions is posting more makeup tutorials. But I am a blogger and right now their are many girls frantically looking for the perfect New Years makeuplook.  So I decided my resolution starts now. I decided to start with a softer makeup looked that is targeted for younger teens or for the girls who are shy when it comes to makeup. It's really easy recreate and you don't even need the same products I used. Just pick similar shades that you already have and you should be good to go!

Hope you enjoy this look and find it helpful! Have a wonderful and blessed New Year!

For the eye look you will need the following products.
  • I used the Lorac Mega Pro palette but all you need are the following shades: cranberry, shimmery vanilla, and a dusty rose to copy this look
  • White base (optional)
  • Urban Decay eye primer
  • L'Oreal voluminous mascara
  • Black eyeshadow for lining the eyes
  • And of course some makeup brushes (shader, blending, precision/pencil, crease, lining)
For the face I used
  • Loreal True Match foundation
  • E.l.f cosmetics Hd concealer in brightening
  • Physicians Formula face powder
  • Nars Orgasm blush
  • Benefit's Hula for Light contouring
On the lips
  • Chapstick
  • Too Faced Melted lipstick in Berry

Now let's get started!
  1. First, make sure you have a clean face. It should be washed, moisturized and prepped with any primers.
  2. After applying Urban Decays primer potion, take a a fluffy brush and lightly blend a cranberry shade into the crease. Be sure not to go too high above the crease. It's better to get it all over the lid rather than covering your brow none with the cranberry shade.
  3. Pick up crease brush and precisely apply the same cranberry shade in the crease. Start from the outer v and work your way into the inner v. But try to keep most of the cranberry shade on the outer v area.
  4. After you're finished with step 3, take a fluffy blending brush and blend out any harsh lines.
  5. Next, apply a white base to the lid of the eye for enhanced pigment for the vanilla eyeshadow.
  6. Take a flat shadow brush and dab the shimmery vanilla shade all over the lid. You can also use your fingers or a sponge applicator for this step.
  7. Again, go back in with your fluffy blending brush and blend any harsh lines from the vanilla shade. Sometimes it's needed to redo step 3 to enhance the cranberry shade and that's ok. But don't forget that you might need to be blend once again.
  8. Now, take a pencil brush and apply a rosy shade on the outer v to lightly smoke things out. Blend with a fluffy brush if needed.
  9. For lining the eyes use an angled eyeliner brush and a black eyeshadow. This will keep the look soft and avoid the harshness a tradional eyeliner can create.
  10. Apply mascara to the top and bottom lashes.
  11. If desired, apply the same vanilla shade on the brow bone to enhance the shape of your brows.
  12. Then finish up with your foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, blush and lipstick. (I did it in that order)
I really like this look because you can change it up to a more bold look or tame it down. You can add definition under the eyes, falsies, winged eyeliner, or even add deeper Berry shades. The possibilities are endless with this look. I decided to keep the look soft becuase it was done on a 14 year old but when I wear this look I definitely vamp it up!

What are you doing for the holidays?
Are you going to rock this look?

The new Lorac Cosmetic PROpalette2

Let's put a smile on your face
* warning: it might last until June 15th

I have had one if the worst days ever but things quickly turned around when I saw Lorac's Instagram post. Drum roll.... The new Lorac PRO palette2 is coming out on June 15th on ulta.com.

I literally can't live without the original PRO palette and I'm sure I will feel the same way about the second one. I know it's going to sell out like crazy but there's no way I'm missing this release. I don't care what I have to do. I HAVE to get my greedy, makeup snatching hands on this godly palette.

It's sickening how much affection I already have for it and I just learned of its existence thirty minutes ago. Seriously ,Taylor? I have to ask myself why I have to be addicted to makeup. Every single makeup item is a must have for me. Are there any beauty rehab centers? I think I need to admit myself into makeup rehab.
BUT.. let's get real! My money can go towards better things. Including makeup (duh).

Anyways, make sure no one is around, because your jaw is about to drop and it's not going to be cute.
Ok, time to close your mouth.

I can't wait to mess around with these colors! The color selection is beautiful. Of course, you have one row that has shimmers and he other holds mattes. I'm sure all of the eyeshadows will be silky soft, packed with pigmentation, be absent of fallout, blend beautifully, stay all day and the palette itself will be well rounded. The first palette is simply perfect and I expect nothing but the same from the second. Although, I do have to admit that I'm not crazy about the palette color but who cares as long as if the shadows are pretty.

I love how the second palette has a blue and purple for a popping effect. The looks are going to be endless. Plus, I can't help but drool over the Rose, Mocha and Coco shades. I have a feeling these colors are going to be maleficent on everyone's eyes. If you know me at all, I'm sure this will be a monthly all star winner just like the original palette.

If there was a palette to end my beauty addiction, this would be it.

Are you going to buy it?
Let me know in the comments below what you think about it!

Hello, I have an exciting review to share today. The SummerGLO palette! My reason for the excitement is because currently on Taylorpiebeauty there is a giveaway featuring the Lorac SummerGLO palette. The giveaway does end this Saturday (4-26), so be sure to enter while you still can. Click here to go the giveaway.

The SummerGLO palette sells for $24. You can buy it at kohls or loraccosmetics.com. It comes with 10 shades, a mix between matte and shimmer finishes. 2 of the 10 shades are over-sized neutral shadows. I love how they provided the neutral shades because they always seem to run out faster. Now I don't have to worry about that with this fabulous palette.

Product Details

  • Set includes: (4) matte eyeshadows, (2) neutral eyeshadows & (4) shimmer eyeshadows (0.6-oz. total weight)
The packaging is very slim and sturdy. It's a light brown plastic case with a high quality mirror. The mirror is firmly hinged to the palette. You can rotate the mirror at any degree and it will stay put without frustration. It's so easy to get ready since the mirror doesn't have to be held. I always hate it when I have to hold the mirror with my fingers. They get crampy and I tend to use palettes with better packaging. So I can see myself reaching for it over my other beloved palettes. Which is huge deal considering I'm very picky when it comes to my eyeshadows.
The first white eyeshadow is very buttery and blends in like a dream. It's great for highlighting or you can use it under your other shadows.

The brown shadow has a matte finish. It's very soft and I love using it in my crease.

The coral shadow has a matte finish. This color is perfect for all over the lid or under the eye. It's also very buttery and it's easy to create a strong intensity.

The purple shadow has a shimmery finish. I was kind of disappointed with this shade. It's not as pigmented and it takes a lot of work to build any color. However, the shadow is really stunning once you intensify the color. However, keep in mind you can apply these wet. So you can intensify the pigmentation if you want to.

The blue eyeshadow has a shimmery finish. I personally love this eyeshadow. It's soft, buttery and blends effortlessly.

The neutral shade in the right side of the palette is definitely great for blending. Just like the white neural shadow, it's buttery and blends in prefectly.

The gold shade has a shimmery finish. It's super soft and extremely pigmented.

The bronze shadow has a shimmery finish. This shade is ok. It looks pretty once you have the right amount of color but it can be tricky to work with. I had to use a heavy hand when I swatched it. I also noticed it has silver glitter after you blend onto the skin. Which is ok. I think it's really pretty and I will continue to use it. However, keep in mind you can apply these wet. So you can intensify the pigmentation if you want to.

The teal shadow has a shimmery finish. This color is spectacular! The pigmentation is superb. It just blows me away everytime I swatch it.

The deep brown has a matte finish. This shade looks and feels exactly like sable from the Lorac Pro palette. So of course it has great qualities like softness, great pigmentation and long lasting powers. It's just the perfect shade from enhancing your eyes.

Overall, I am very pleased with this palette. Its high quality at a fantastic price. I love it so much and I'm thinking about purchasing the AfterGLO palette. Lorac is definitely one of my favorite brands for eyeshadows. I'm hardly ever let down when I purchase something from them. Most of the eyeshadows from this palette are wonderfully pigmented, they have no fallout, last all day without creasing and blend in like butter on toast. I highly recommend this palette to anyone who is seeking a perfect palette this summer. It's one of those you don't want to miss.

I did notice that the description said the palette has 4 matte and 4 shimmery shades but one of the matte shades actually has a shimmery finish. I just wanted to point that out for future buyers.

Don't forget you can enter my giveaway to win it!
